The formalities were completed at the recent annual meeting of the league when six proposed rule changes were considered from the 14 discussed at the pre-agm, and most were adopted.
The season began with the Gordon Clay and George Fletcher Trophy finals. Mossley ‘A’ played Mossley ‘B’ in the snooker final and St Peter’s played Mossley ‘B’ in the whist final. League fixtures will commence on October 4.
The presentation night for the 2017/18 season took place at Mountain Street Club, Mossley, on September 14.
It was well attended and started with a killer knockout won by Gareth Terry with Robert Carter second.
The trophies were presented by the league chairman, finishing with Mossley ‘A’ the league champions.
The sportsmanship award, voted for by the teams in the league for the person they think has been most helpful and sporting during the year, went to Rick Mason, of Hyde SC.
The long-service award went to Phil Vidler who joined the league in the mid 1980s.
Overall it was a very fitting end to a good season with the Mossley clubs very successful in the team events and Staly Vegas and Mossley ‘B’ most successful in the individual events.
